DESCRIPTION:The eighth assembly and 71st meeting of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council will be held in 2026 in Samarkand\,   the Ministry of Ecology\, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan announced . \nRepresentatives of the organization’s largest donors will gather at the foundation’s event in Samarkand. Together with experts\, they will discuss protecting the region’s environmental well-being and the causes of climate change. \nThe Assembly will help attract funding for green projects\, facilitate the exchange of experiences\, and strengthen regional cooperation. Assembly participants plan to discuss climate resilience and combating biodiversity loss. \n“Central Asia remains an extremely vulnerable region to the threats of climate change\, water scarcity\, and land degradation. The GEF Assembly in 2026 will be an important platform for raising funds\, sharing knowledge\, strengthening resilience\, and focusing attention on these issues.
