\u201cThe Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2024) is taking place during a crucial moment in the global environmental discourse, at a time when regional and transboundary cooperation is becoming critically important,\u201d said\u00a0Olga Pilifosova<\/b>, representative of the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) at the opening ceremony of the Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2024) in Almaty, May 27, 2024.<\/p>\n

She noted that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and a similar body of the Convention on Biological Diversity had pointed to the need\u00a0for a rapid transformation\u00a0of socio-economic\u00a0systems in the coming decade.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cIf this transformation\u00a0is not carried out, it will lead to serious negative results after 2030. Thus, we have a window of opportunity that closes in 10 years, now it is smaller,\u201d\u00a0Olga Pilifosova<\/b>\u00a0emphasized.<\/p>\n

According to her, last year\u00a0was marked\u00a0by the culmination of the first Global Stocktake of the Paris Agreement within the framework of the UNFCCC processes. As a result, the countries participating in the Paris Agreement are called upon to strengthen the transition away from fossil fuels, which could be a catalyst in changing the direction of long-term energy policy in the world.<\/p>\n

The Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2024)<\/i><\/a>\u00a0is organized by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) within the \u201cClimate Adaptation and Mitigation Program in the Aral Sea Basin AF\u201d (CAMP4ASB AF), Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP), and Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in cooperation with\u00a0<\/i>The Global Partnership for Sustainable and Resilient Landscapes<\/i><\/a>\u00a0(PROGREEN)<\/i>, NDC Partnership (NDCP), Coalition for Capacity on Climate Action (C3A), Asia Development Bank (ADB), Asia Development Institute (ADBI), International Organization for Migration (IOM), International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), SWITCH-Asia\u2014 a programme funded by the European Union, the Kazakh-German University (DKU), Green Academy along with valuable support provided from other partners.<\/i><\/p>\n

The CAMP4ASB AF<\/i><\/a>\u00a0project\u00a0is implemented\u00a0by CAREC\u00a0together with\u00a0EC IFAS with\u00a0the financial support of the World Bank and the Green Climate Fund.<\/i><\/p>\n

The Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP<\/i><\/a>) is a partnership between the World Bank, the European Union, Switzerland,\u00a0and the United Kingdom\u00a0aimed at creating\u00a0conditions for improving\u00a0water and energy security at the regional level and in beneficiary countries\u00a0in a changing climate.<\/i><\/p>\n
