Dushanbe, Tajikistan – November 22, 2024. The Scientific Research Institute of Political Processes, Diplomacy, and Globalization Issues at the Academy of Public Administration (APA) under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan hosted an International Scientific and Practical Conference titled “Global Initiatives of the Republic of Tajikistan – A Basis for Dialogue and Finding Solutions to Issues of Water Resource Protection and the Climate Agenda.”

The conference was dedicated to issues of water diplomacy, the Nexus approach, and climate change in Central Asia, and Tajikistan’s contribution to addressing these challenges.

At the initiative of NAS (Network of Academic Societies) member Alisher Saidmukhtorov, other NAS members, Suriya Telmanova (University of World Economy and Diplomacy) and Gulnara Baykushikova (Al-Farabi Kazakh National University), were invited as speakers. They presented on key issues of water diplomacy in Central Asia and Kazakhstan’s climate diplomacy. Among the invited speakers, Ludmila Kiktenko (Environmental Management Program Manager) from the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) spoke about the Nexus global initiative in Central Asia for water, energy, and food security.

The conference once again underscored the significance of the NAS platform in fostering scientific and educational collaboration, as well as advancing joint research aimed at addressing critical issues in Central Asia. This format of interaction contributes to the development of international cooperation, enhances expert capacity, and strengthens dialogue among academic communities in the region.
