2024 Outcomes: Kyrgyzstan Highly Appreciates CAREC’s Contribution to the Environmental Agenda

Representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic (MNRETS KR) highly praised the contribution of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) in organizing the Kyrgyz Pavilion at the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan.

On 25 December 2024, MNRETS presented the results for the current year, underlining considerable achievements in environmental protection, sustainable development, and international cooperation, including efforts to address climate change.

They highlighted as one of the key results of Kyrgyzstan’s successful participation in UNFCCC COP29, where the experience and support of CAREC helped prominently showcase Kyrgyzstan’s environmental initiatives and draw attention to national projects on climate change within the Kyrgyz Pavilion.

The Ministry expressed special gratitude to Kuban Matraimov, the Director of the CAREC Country Office for Kyrgyzstan, and Vladimir Grebnev, the CAREC Regional Specialist on Climate Change.

Kuban Matraimov was awarded a certificate of honor, while Vladimir Grebnev received a state medal for his contributions to developing environmental cooperation and successfully organizing the Kyrgyz Pavilion. 

 

According to Ministry representatives, these achievements were made possible through coordinated efforts between national and international partners. They emphasized that significant attention was given to implementing environmental projects aimed at sustainable management of natural resources, combating climate change, and raising public awareness.

Representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed their readiness to continue working on the sustainable development of the country by implementing environmental and climate initiatives and strengthening international cooperation.

Brief note:

In 2024, Kyrgyzstan organized the Kyrgyz Pavilion for the first time at the UNFCCC COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Besides, the Kyrgyz delegation actively participated in COP16 of the Convention on the Conservation of Biodiversity in Colombia.

The final event of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Kyrgyz Republic on December 25 gathered the leadership of the Ministry, key employees, and representatives of international and non-governmental organizations.
