EDB experts have calculated the amount needed to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 6 – clean water and sanitation in the Central Asian region
The Eurasian Development Bank conducted a diagnostic of drinking water supply and sanitation infrastructure in Central Asia.
Thus, EDB specialists found out that for sustainable development in the area of providing the population with drinking water, the countries of the region need to reduce the gap in financing, according to the report.
It is noted that $0.4 billion is planned to be invested in this sector in Tajikistan for 2025-2030.

At the same time, EDB experts calculated that this will not cover the country’s needs, which amount to $1.7 billion.
The largest investment in this sector was made in Uzbekistan – 5.8 billion dollars. But even this amount will not be enough, because the country’s need is 10.8 billion dollars.
The regional gap in funding for Sustainable Development Goal 6 (clean water and sanitation) is $12.1 billion.
