CAREC will Participate in the webinar on eco-design and sustainable textiles

On March 19, 2025, the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) will take part in the webinar “The EU Eco-Design and Sustainable Product Regulation (ESPR) and the Textile Sector: Towards Circular Fashion for the Asia-Pacific Region”, organized by SWITCH-Asia and the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) as part of the webinar series “EU Green Deal Policies and their Relevance in Asia-Pacific.”

The webinar will focus on the EU Eco-Design and Sustainable Product Regulation (ESPR), a key component of the EU’s Circular Economy Action Plan and Sustainable Textiles Strategy. The regulation introduces new eco-design requirements aimed at reducing environmental impact across the product lifecycle, including extended durability, improved recyclability, and the implementation of Digital Product Passports (DPPs).

Key topics of discussion:

✔ New EU eco-design requirements for textiles

✔ Impact of ESPR on manufacturers and suppliers in the Asia-Pacific region

✔ Business opportunities and circular economy approaches in the textile sector

✔ Perspectives on Digital Product Passports and sustainable production practices
