During his visit to Uzbekistan, Zafar Makhmudov, the executive director of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), held a series of meetings with representatives of international financial organizations and donor institutions. The discussions focused on the activities of CAREC’s country office in Uzbekistan and the official introduction of its new director.
One of the key events was a meeting with the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The parties discussed the prospects for implementing the Resilient Landscapes in Central Asia (Resilient CA+) program and the Uzbekistan Resilient Landscape Restoration Project, supported by the International Development Association (IDA).
During the visit, negotiations were also held with representatives of the Caritas consortium, focusing on the Climate-Resilient Integrated Water Resources Management in the Zarafshan River Basin project.
At a meeting with FAO representatives in Uzbekistan, they discussed opportunities for cooperation and joint initiatives.
Additionally, a discussion with World Bank representative Takahiro Hasumi covered the development of the One Health program.
The CAREC Executive Director paid a working visit to Uzbekistan on March 4-6, 2025. These negotiations help strengthen partnerships with international stakeholders and expand CAREC’s strategic initiatives throughout Central Asia.
