As of December 23, 21:00, the city status is “Very harmful”, which means a significant level of air pollution that is dangerous to life. In such a situation, it is recommended to avoid any outdoor activities, use an air purifier at home and close all windows, and it is also recommended to wear masks outside.
According to this rating, Bishkek has an air quality index (AQI) of 229, and measurements of the concentration of fine particles PM2.5 showed 153.5 μg/m³.
The city currently ranks third in the world for air pollution.
Note that 229 AQI is the average air pollution level. In some areas of Bishkek, the pollution level reaches 706 AQI – this in turn is considered “Dangerous”.
