The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) is taking measures to develop green finance in the region. The organization is considering the prospects for accreditation in leading international institutions to strengthen its role in supporting adaptation and mitigation of climate change in the countries of Central Asia.

On December 24, at the IGTIP seminar in Almaty, they discussed the possibilities of international green finance, studied best practices in climate adaptation and climate change mitigation, and discussed the development of strategies for the successful implementation of environmental projects. The seminar brought together representatives of government agencies, international organizations, and experts on sustainable development.

“Green climate finance opens up significant prospects for the application of modern approaches to climate change adaptation and mitigation in Central Asia. CAREC, thanks to its unique mandate and many years of experience in the implementation of international environmental projects in the region, occupies an advantageous position in this process. We see the need to study and assess the possibilities for applying for accreditation,” said Yerlan Zhumabayev, Director of the CAREC Country Office in Kazakhstan.

CAREC, having many years of experience in the field of ecology and sustainable development, is actively engaged in the introduction of advanced technologies and attracting international financing for environmental protection projects. A new stage of work is associated with the study of accreditation opportunities, which will significantly expand the range of its activities and attract additional resources for the implementation of environmental initiatives.
