The Jinan-Hefei Highway, a 152-kilometer highway that recently opened to traffic in China, is equipped with small wind turbines, geothermal heat pumps, and an energy storage system. The highway also has an improved wastewater treatment system.

Experts estimate that the Jinan-Hefei highway will emit 13,600 tons of carbon annually, but the technologies mentioned will offset these emissions by 22,500 tons per year.
