Today, September 17, Sadyr Japarov, as part of a working visit to Kazakhstan, spoke at the Germany-Central Asia summit in Astana. This was reported by the presidential press service.
According to the head of state, Germany plays a significant role in the international arena.
“I am convinced that for our German colleagues, interaction with our region as a single economic space will allow us to intensify investment and trade and economic cooperation. In this regard, I expect that our interaction format will be aimed at achieving specific results,” he noted.
Sadyr Japarov added that in the context of globalization, climate change issues require our special joint attention, which pose a serious threat to Central Asia, where the average temperature is rising faster than in any other region of the Earth.
“The most vulnerable to climate change are the mountain ecosystems of the region, including Kyrgyzstan. For example, over the past 70 years, the area of glaciers in the country has decreased by 16 percent, and by the end of the century we may lose more than 80 percent. As is known, Germany also pays great attention to climate change issues, as well as the efficient and careful use of water resources. In this regard, we propose to create a regional center for the implementation of energy-efficient and resource-saving technologies in Bishkek together with Germany,” he said.
Continuing the theme of water and energy resources, the President singled out the construction of the Kambaratinskaya HPP-1, which will become one of the largest regional projects.
“Active work is underway to attract investors and technologies for the construction of this and other hydropower facilities in the republic. Of course, any entrepreneur, before starting to invest in a particular country, studies the economic aspects, legislation, security issues and guarantees of their investments,” he emphasized.
Speaking about the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, the head of state called on German businesses to create logistics centres along the new railway route.
He noted the Kyrgyz Republic’s interest in active cooperation with Germany, including within the framework of the European Union’s strategy for Central Asia, which has become an effective partnership mechanism.
“We also intend to maintain dialogue with the European Union, as evidenced by the signing of the agreement on enhanced partnership and cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the EU in Brussels this year. Literally next month, the third meeting of the Kyrgyz-German Business Council is planned in Munich, which is a specialized platform for dialogue between business structures,” Sadyr Japarov concluded.
