“Climate Dialogues” is the name of the dialogue platform on climate change issues; its next meeting took place in Dushanbe on January 27.
“Climate Dialogues” is a joint initiative of the TajCN Climate Network and the Tajik branch of CAREC aimed at raising awareness of civil society organizations on climate change, climate action and policy. This session was devoted to discussing the results of international climate negotiations, COP 29, which were recently held in Baku. A number of public organizations of Tajikistan took part in them as observers. Numerous events and meetings in the pavilions of countries and organizations, as well as participation in side events were the main activities of the participants. For NGOs, the COP 29 platform was important for promoting cooperation on adaptation to climate change, the introduction of renewable energy sources, low-carbon development and the use of natural solutions NbS.
The Climate Dialogue also presented the approach of a number of TajCN Network members to engage youth in the climate agenda. Participants shared their experience in conducting environmental campaigns, seminars, working with communities, practical examples of work in combating climate change and adapting to its negative consequences. In the future, the TajCN Dialogue Platform plans to hold events for youth to exchange practices and knowledge on climate change and climate-resilient technologies.
For reference: The TajCN Climate Network currently unites more than 30 Tajik public organizations, whose members work with vulnerable communities, farmers, rural women and youth, implementing “climate-smart” technologies in practice, and are engaged in important educational work.
