DUSHANBE, 05.01.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – This year, the 35th meeting of the Interstate Council on Hydrometeorology of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS ICH) will be held in Dushanbe.
This decision was approved during the 34th meeting of the CIS ICH, which took place in Baku (Azerbaijan).
Ten CIS member states will take part in the work of the CIS ICH, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Moldova and Russia. Also, delegations of the World Meteorological Organization will take part in all meetings of the Council as observers.
The CIS ICH was established by the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Hydrometeorology dated February 8, 1992, which was one of the first intergovernmental documents on industry cooperation within the Commonwealth. The importance of its adoption lay in the need to regularly obtain reliable hydrometeorological information for effective economic development, ensuring the safety of the population and the defense capability of the CIS member states.
