A plant for the production of equipment for renewable energy sources will appear in Kazakhstan. The enterprise will annually produce 250 wind generators and 100 energy storage systems
On January 17, a capsule laying ceremony was held in the Khorgos-Eastern Gate SEZ in Zhetisu region, and the construction of a plant for the production of wind turbines and energy storage systems was launched .
The project is being implemented in partnership between Kazakhstan Communal Systems LLP and Envision Energy, one of the leaders in the field of renewable energy.
The plant with a total investment of $40 million will be an important contribution to the development of renewable energy in Kazakhstan and will create more than 300 jobs. 60% of the products will be sent to the domestic market, and 40% will be exported to the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus. At the initial stage of production, the share of Kazakhstani content will be 30%, in the future this figure will be gradually increased to 90%.
Kazakhstan is actively developing renewable energy, striving to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, and the construction of the plant will be a significant step along this path. The launch of the enterprise is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026. Thanks to the experience of the global giant Envision, the enterprise will support national goals to reduce emissions and increase the share of renewable energy in the energy balance.
The wind turbine plant will have a production capacity of 2 GW per year, with a planned output of 250 sets per year. At the same time, the energy storage systems will have a capacity of 1 GWh per year, with a projected output of 100 sets per year.
” The creation of a joint venture with the global giant Envision Energy is a strategically important step for Kazakhstan. We are not only launching the production of wind turbines and energy storage systems, but also attracting unique world-class technologies. The project will reduce import dependence, strengthen energy security, create jobs, open up export opportunities and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy, contributing to the future of the country ,” said Dinmukhamet Idrissov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Kazakhstan Utility Systems LLP.
Cooperation with the world leader will improve the qualifications of local specialists through the transfer of advanced knowledge and technologies, as well as the implementation of professional training programs. The companies also intend to conduct research in cooperation with local universities to optimize products for the conditions of Kazakhstan.
Envision Energy will provide Kazakhstan with advanced technical support, including a full range of services at all stages – from design and production to operation of equipment. To ensure high-quality service, it is planned to create a Service and Technical Support Center , which will strengthen the base for professional growth of Kazakhstani specialists.
“ We are pleased to partner with Kazakhstan Utility Systems LLP on this groundbreaking initiative . Building on our industry-leading technologies, Envision will support Kazakhstan in reducing carbon emissions, advancing clean energy, and attracting international investment and technology. This initiative will significantly accelerate Kazakhstan’s transition to a sustainable energy future, economic growth, and innovation ,” said Kane Xu, Senior Vice President of Envision Energy.
Let us recall that the project became possible thanks to a previously signed agreement between Kazakhstan Communal Systems LLP and Envision Energy on the creation of a local manufacturing facility for the production of wind generators and energy storage systems.
Envision Energy is known for its cutting-edge green energy solutions. In 2024, the company ranked first in wind turbine orders globally and was recognized by BloombergNEF as a Tier 1 energy storage system manufacturer for the third consecutive quarter, solidifying its position among the leading companies in the space. The company will bring innovation to Kazakhstan and support the country in reducing carbon emissions and advancing clean energy.
