In the frame of the CAMP4ASB project, the hydromet services of Turkmenistan, Tadjikistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan were supported in adaptation and validation of snow cover monitoring and seasonal water availability forecasting based on the MODSNOW-Tool for selected river basins.
In this report, the forecasts for 2019 were verified using the observed discharge data for the vegetation periods of April to September and May to September, but also for each month from April to September.
In Central Asia, hydrological forecasting is done using the traditional datasets from meteorological stations. However, Central Asian region covers very heterogeneous topography with very high mountains, where no observations due to extreme climatic conditions are available.
