The project, ES Biyat is expected to:
• Implement the conversion of its spent grain into animal/fish feed thus introducing a circular economy business model;
• Diversify its product range with the aim of expanding its presence in the premium market segment;
• Improve the malt storage quality;
• Expand the distribution chain.
This knowledge and support technical assistance (TA) will support the delivery of a Climate Change Strategy and an Action Plan for Central and West Asia to strengthen integration of climate change considerations in Asian Development Banks (ADB) financed interventions in the developing member countries (DMCs) of the region. It will prepare robust climate mitigation and adaptation pipelines aligned with the Paris Agreement and responsive to DMCs climate change priorities. The TA will support interventions on departmental, sectoral and country levels with key activities including development of a regional strategy, upstream climate assessments, climate pipeline development, government dialogues and capacity building.
To pilot agroforestry practices using a community-centered approach and to build government capacity for landscape management and re storation.
Ensure local governance institutions deploy resources and social services effectively; Ensure improved performance of targeted smallholder farmers and entrepreneurs
Promote SCP practices in the agri-food production and processing industries along the entire supply chain, while creating an enabling environment through clusters and by building on current national development strategies, integrating SCP incentives. The SCP practices will focus on resource-efficiency in agri-food production and processing and apply approaches for dealing with resource shortfalls. This will cover increasing the efficiency of water usage, reduction of food-losses and decreasing other energy and resource inefficiency. The process of clusterization will seek to enhance the competitiveness of local businesses.
The Objectives
The action seeks to improve sustainability in the agri-food production and processing industries in two ways:
● Targeting fast, cost-efficient SCP measures, showcasing the business case of such measures and creating a win-win mind-set in MSMEs;
● Building MSMEs capacity to deal innovatively with challenges in natural resource shortages and creating ecosystems for SCP and supply-chain integration.
Increase on-farm productivity and profitability. Address constraints in farm restructuring, drainage and irrigation, input supply, machinery hire services, marketing, and finance.
Strengthening of the Regional and National planning capacity. Legal interstates agreements. Regional information system.
Strengthening of the Regional and National planning capacity. Assistance in economical approach towards water and soil management. EC IFAS capacity built and staff trained. Legal documents for future water utilization drafted.
The project development objectives for PAMP II are to:
(i) provide access to temporary employment to food-insecure people through the rehabilitation of irrigation and drainage infrastructure,
(ii) increase yields of selected crops in response to improved irrigation and infrastructure, and
(iii) strengthen the capacity of government to introduce integrated water resource management.
By improving food access and food availability these measures improve the food security of lowincome people in the poor rural areas supported by the project
