In Tajikistan, 157 quotas have been allocated for the shooting of trophy animals in the period 2024-2025. This was reported  by the head of the department of state control over the use and protection of flora and fauna of the Committee for Environmental Protection of the Republic, Hamrokh Akhrorzoda.

According to his owls, the hunting season will begin on September 1 and end in March.

Of the total:

-115 quotas allocated for Marco Polo rams;

-16 quotas for markhor;

-16 quotas for Bukhara ram.

In addition, there are 10 quotas for hunting brown bears, but they can only be shot in extreme cases.

“Brown bears are listed in the Red Book. Usually, these quotas are only allowed to be used in cases of bear attacks on populated areas or people. Only in such situations is it allowed to use quotas for protection purposes,” he said.

Akhrorzoda also spoke about the cost of hunting. In particular, hunting for the Marco Polo ram costs 55 thousand somoni, the same as last year.

But hunting for markhor has become more expensive by almost 14.5 thousand somoni: from 380 thousand somoni last year to 394 thousand 485 somoni this year.

This year, you will also have to pay more for hunting the Bukhara mountain sheep than last year – 32,873 somoni instead of 31,600 somoni.

The quota for brown bear costs about 12 thousand 620 somoni.

The department also reported that today there are

– over 30 thousand heads of Marco Polo sheep

– 6 thousand 227 heads of markhor

– 3 thousand 200 Bukhara mountain sheep

– 800-900 brown bears

– 300-350 snow leopards.
