During the meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia and the Federal Chancellor of Germany, the President of Kazakhstan also touched upon the issues related to the “green” transition and conservation of water resources. This was reported by the Kazinform agency with reference to the press service of Akorda.

The head of state noted that Germany has been a reliable partner of Central Asian countries for many years in combating the effects of climate change, improving the environment, and increasing the efficiency of the water and energy sector.

– Kazakhstan is the current chairman of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea and in this capacity proposes to intensify partnership in the implementation of projects within the framework of the Action Program to assist the countries of the Aral Sea basin and the Regional Environmental Program for Sustainable Development in Central Asia. The activities of the Fund, in our opinion, are of fundamental importance for ensuring sustainable development and prosperity of our region. The initiative to create a Regional Center for Sustainable Agriculture is of particular relevance. I hope that this initiative will be supported by all participants of today’s meeting, – noted Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The Head of State considers the development of scientific and educational ties to be another urgent task. He invited scientific and educational circles in Germany to expand cooperation in such promising areas as artificial intelligence, digitalization and green technologies.
