UNRCCA sees youth engagement as the key to making preventive diplomacy more effective.
Youth Initiative:
In 2019, UNRCCA launched a Preventive Diplomacy Academy (PDA) for young people in Central Asia and Afghanistan.
Objectives of the Preventive Diplomacy Academy:
UNRCCA is building connections with the region’s youth, creating a culture of conflict prevention.
Preventive Diplomacy Academy tasks:
- Raise awareness of UN peace and security activities and the UN Youth Strategy.
- Broaden the horizons of young people and lay the foundations for a culture of preventive diplomacy.
- To develop young people’s respect for other cultures, beliefs, and customs.
- Understand the importance of dialogue, partnership and cooperation in conflict prevention.
- Develop leadership skills to motivate an active life position.
The following individuals are invited to participate in the competition:
- Young male and female citizens of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan, aged 18 to 29, who are planning to pursue or are currently studying political science, international relations, international economic relations, law, and sociology.
- UNRCCA welcomes people with disabilities to apply.

- Write and upload the following:
- A motivation letter in English (up to 300 words) addressing the following questions:
- What made you interested in the Preventive Diplomacy Academy training?
- A short video (60-90 seconds) titled “Why I am suitable to participate in the PDA”.
The selection committee will review the motivation letters and video clips as part of the selection process. Only applications that are complete and submitted through the Google Form will be considered.
Applications in English will be accepted until March 10, 2025.
Participant evaluation criteria:
- Academic/professional background;
- Proven experience in social service/volunteering in one’s community;
- Creativity;
- Proficiency in English at B2 level or above.
