At the Turkmen-Afghan business forum in Ashgabat, the parties identified the agro-industrial complex as a promising area of cooperation, where the rational use of water resources, including transboundary ones, plays a key role, reports the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

Turkmenistan emphasized at the forum its commitment to promoting initiatives for integrated and systematic water use, taking into account the interests of all states in the region.

The Turkmen side noted the systematic work being carried out in the country on water supply to agriculture and the introduction of water-saving technologies. Ashgabat advocated the implementation of water cooperation with its neighbors based on the principles of international law, mutual respect, equality and transparency.

Acting minister of Industry and Commerce of Afghanistan Nuruddin Azizi emphasized that when using transboundary hydro resources, Kabul will be guided by the principles of mutual consent and equality with its neighbors, especially with Turkmenistan, which maintains friendly relations with the Afghan people.

Turkmenistan declared its readiness to expand cooperation in the agro-industrial complex and agriculture with Afghanistan and enter into new forms of partnership in this area.
