A meeting was held between the Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Z. Aliyev, the Swiss Ambassador to Kazakhstan, S. Bal, and a delegation from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation under the Federal Department of Switzerland.
The main purpose of the meeting was to review the regional initiative Blue Peace Central Asia (BPCA), present its key strategic directions, discuss capacity building and research, as well as data exchange and dialogue platforms.
The Kazakh side expressed interest in cooperating on the development of an information system for flood modeling and training specialists in this area.
During his speech, the Vice Minister expressed readiness to collaborate by sharing experiences and advanced technologies for monitoring the quality of surface and marine waters, as well as forecasting floods.
In addition, representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources informed the Swiss delegation that Kazakhstan, as a party to the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, is actively pursuing climate policies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed hope that joint efforts and resource consolidation would lead to significant results aimed at improving the environmental situation.
