The topic of green economy has become one of the most important topics of our time over the past few years. On February 26, 2025, in Dushanbe, on the initiative of the Aarhus Center of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, a round table was held on the topic “Implementation of green technologies in retail: social responsibility and sustainable development”, which was attended by scientists and experts, representatives of state and international structures, heads and officials of commercial companies and large shopping centers of the capital, representatives of public associations.
The participants of the event first of all mentioned the importance of the global initiatives of the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the respected Emomali Rahmon on sustainable development, and considered the development of a green economy necessary and important for the future of the country.
In particular, in the speech of the Director of the Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy Sharofzoda Farkhod, it was noted that the development of the trade sector, which has a special social significance in the context of the formation of a green economy, should be given special attention as one of the important areas. Representatives of the Committee for Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan also expressed their opinion on the measures implemented within the framework of the Green Economy Development Strategy for 2023-2037.
The head of the Aarhus Center of the Committee for Environmental Protection in his presentation presented to the participants of the events the practical work done by the Aarhus Centers of Tajikistan in the direction of developing a green economy.
In another part of the event, the heads and specialists of the Paykar and Laklak retail chains and the Hakimi trading cooperative spoke about the activities they are carrying out to develop the green economy.
Following the round table discussion on this topic, proposals and recommendations were adopted for the implementation of green technology in the retail sector.
