The second youth “Syr Darya River Basin Forum-2024” was held at the National Bank’s educational center in Guliston with the support of development partners and assistance from the Main Department of Environmental Protection in the Sughd region, the Center for Continuing Education of the regional education department and water resources management of the regions of the Syr Darya River basin.
The aim of this forum is to raise awareness and engage youth in integrated water resources management in the context of climate change.
The forum was held within the framework of the implementation of the “National Project on Water Resources Management in Tajikistan”, financed by the Swiss Development Agency, and for the implementation of the action plan items of the “State Comprehensive Program for the Development of Environmental Education and Awareness of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025”. It should be noted that this forum was attended by members of the Green Observers movement from educational institutions of cities and districts of the Sughd region, together with teachers and heads of three public organizations, as well as a group of active members of the Green Observers movement from the Republic of Uzbekistan, a total of more than 300 people.
As part of the program, students of the “green observers” teams conducted practical and training sessions, and also presented videos and presentations of their annual work plans to the participants. In conclusion, the Red Book of the Republic of Tajikistan was presented to the guests of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the heads of three public organizations involved in the implementation of environmental projects, and a representative of the Main Department of Environmental Protection of the Sughd Region.
In 2025, it is planned to hold the third such forum in the city of Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan.
