On 28 September, a national meeting was held to discuss the content of the regional statement on behalf of civil society and youth of the Central Asian countries, which will be presented at UNFCCC COP-28.
The meeting was organized by the Green Alliance of Kyrgyzstan the Regional Dialogue of Central Asian countries on joint preparations for the 28 Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The meeting brought together representatives of the public and youth of Kyrgyzstan. The same meetings will take place in Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. A similar meeting gathered representatives of NGOs and the Youth in Kazakhstan on 15 September 2023. The main goal of the national consultation meetings is to form a regional statement on behalf of NGOs and youth from the Central Asian countries, which will be voiced at the UNFCCC COP 28.
The meeting touched upon the role of public organizations and youth in climate issues in Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian countries.
Participants were also informed about what Central Asia will say at the UNFCCC COP-28 negotiations and how the regional dialogue on joint preparation for the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is going.
Consultation meetings organized by the Civil Society Climate Network of Central Asia with the support of the Regional Environmental Center of Central Asia (CAREC) within the project «Strengthening Coordination and positioning of Central Asia in global climate processes» implemented by CAREC with the support of GIZ. The consultation meetings were organized by the Climate Civil Society Network of Central Asia with the support of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC).
They are open to all interested stakeholders. Additional information about the meetings is published on the Facebook page of the Public Organization “ECOFORUM”. At the national meetings, from 15 to 30 September 2023, proposals for the text of the regional statement from each Central Asian country will be discussed online.
