From November 20 to 24, 2023, a training was held for teachers and researchers at universities in Central Asia on the course “water diplomacy and international water law” developed by USAID (together with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation under the Blue Peace program in Central Asia and the Regional Environmental Center of Central Asia ). At the training, participants became familiar with the theoretical foundations of water diplomacy and international water law, and reviewed practical tools used in solving problems of water resource management in Central Asia. It is obvious that the theoretical and practical knowledge gained as a result of the course “Water Diplomacy and International Water Law” makes a great contribution to understanding the problems of water resource management and finding their solutions for Central Asia, including the Republic of Kazakhstan, with inclusion in the educational program” 7M05220 – water diplomacy” which was developed at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management together with the Faculty of International Relations of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Today, this program is the only educational program not only in Kazakhstan, but also in the countries of Central Asia.
