Memorandums were signed following the results of negotiations that took place on June 25, 2024. On July 4, 2024, at the Regional Environmental Center of Central Asia (CAREC) Project Office in Turkmenistan, the Director of the CAREC Project Office of Turkmenistan Mergen Kepbanov and the Chairman of the public association “Yash Tebigatcha” Leili Shykhmadova signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Regional Environmental Center of Central Asia (CAREC) and the public organization of Turkmenistan – “Yash Tibagatchy” (Young naturalist). This event once again emphasizes the close rapprochement and cooperation of CAREC with public associations and civil society of Turkmenistan.
In particular, this Memorandum provides for the adoption of joint actions to implement international, regional and national projects aimed at improving the environmental situation in the Central Asian region, increasing the level of environmental education in the countries of Central Asia, improving the exchange of knowledge at the national level on issues of adaptation, mitigation, climate financing, as well as international, regional and national climate policy, education and development of environmental consciousness of citizens and youth, participation of the public and civil society in making environmentally significant decisions.
The parties agreed to cooperate in such areas as:
- improving the skills of NGO employees by organizing trainings, seminars, master classes and other events on issues related to environmental protection, environmental education and improving environmental safety.
- publication of information about the activities of NGOs in the media and on CAREC Internet resources.
- active participation in international forums and conferences, such as the Central Asian Conference on Climate Change, and other environmental issues.
- establishing contacts and exchanging experience with foreign NGOs working in the field of environmental protection.
