“It is worth noting the importance of integrating climate change issues into national planning instruments, such as national adaptation plans, NDCs, which will need to be updated in 2025,” said Zafar Makhmudov, Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), during an enhanced technical support training for experts from Central Asian countries on adaptation, agricultural policy assessment, greenhouse gas inventory and climate finance.

The event is organized as part of the work of the Regional Climate Action Transparency Hub (ReCATH) for Central Asia.

Zafar Makhmudov noted that over the almost three years of project implementation, more than 28 trainings and workshops have been held to build the capacity of experts from Central Asia in key areas: greenhouse gas inventory, mitigation and adaptation, and climate finance.

He emphasized that the event presented the best international practices in the field of adaptation to climate change, greenhouse gas inventory, and the ICAT methodology for assessing the impact of agricultural policy on greenhouse gas emissions.

The CAREC Executive Director expressed gratitude to ICAT for supporting countries in building the technical capacity of experts and transparent systems to implement the Paris Agreement and to GHGMI for technical support in holding this event.
