Turkmenistan participates in OSCE Economic and Environmental Dimension Meeting in Vienna

The delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the OSCE Economic and Environmental Dimension Implementation Meeting (EEDIM), which was held in Vienna on 29 October. The event, organised by the Office of the Coordinator of Economic and Environmental Activities under the Chairmanship of Malta, brought together representatives of participating States and experts to share best practices.

During the first session of the meeting, Adviser to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on Environmental and Water Diplomacy Magtymguly Akmyradov raised regional issues related to equitable water management, emphasizing the need for effective adaptation to climate change. He reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to sustainable water management and environmental security in Central Asia.

The EEDIM focused on sustainable water management and regional stability, with an emphasis on technology solutions. The Turkmen side reiterated its proposal to establish a Regional Climate Technology Centre in Ashgabat, which would facilitate technology transfer and build resilience to climate change in Central Asia.

A side event on water security highlighted the importance of joint efforts to achieve sustainable development in the region. Participants discussed experiences in climate security and water protection, and addressing transboundary environmental issues.
