The Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, Major General Boobek Azhikeev, held official talks with the head of the World Bank’s office in the country, Hugh Riddell. The discussions focused on cooperation in improving the environmental situation and modernizing hydrometeorological services. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The parties discussed the implementation of joint projects as well as partnership prospects through 2026. Fire safety was recognized as a priority topic, including the establishment of new fire and rescue units and the renewal of equipment and machinery.
The minister also discussed with the World Bank representative measures aimed at strengthening protective dams. Additionally, the talks addressed the modernization of hydrometeorological services and improving the overall environmental situation in the country, particularly reducing air pollution levels. Hugh Riddell, in turn, emphasized that the Kyrgyz Republic has managed to establish a high level of interaction and mutually beneficial cooperation with the World Bank.
