Description:
This report aims to address Decision 13.119 to further understand the role of community-based conservation in the conservation of CMS-listed migratory species. Existing principles for successful community involvement in conservation are introduced, and the challenges presented for community conservation of migratory species. A compilation of case studies involving local communities in migratory species conservation is then analysed and discussed, and information synthesised to formulate guiding principles for consideration in future involvement of local communities in migratory species conservation.
