Local residents found the body of a boy in the Abshyr-Sai River in Nookat District. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports this.
The body was handed over to the police. Work is underway to establish the child’s identity. In total, ten people died as a result of the destructive mudflows.
Let us note that on June 28, mudflows occurred in the Nookat district of Osh region, leading to the death of people. Due to heavy rains, mudflows flooded dozens of yards and damaged bridges, roads and power lines. A state of emergency has been declared in the area.
Mudflows flooded ten courtyards and damaged two bridges in the village of Abshir-Ata. In the village of Teskey-Kozhok, 15 households and a local school were damaged. In the village of Kara-Bulak, mudflows carried away a car and a bridge.
In the village of Tazhy-Kyshtak, the mudflow flooded seven courtyards and several sheds.
Also, according to the department, the bridge on the Osh-Razzakov highway was damaged.
On June 30, four people died during a mudflow in the Kara-Kuldzha district of Osh region. As a result of heavy torrential rains, a mudflow occurred in the village of Zhetim-Dobo and washed away the Daewoo Matiz. In the cabin there was a family of five people: a resident of the village of Tektir, his wife, two sons and a daughter. The driver managed to pull the girl out of the car, but the rest were carried away by the flow.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov, at a meeting of the operational headquarters in the Osh region, named the cause of death due to a mudflow in Nookat. He said that the tragedy occurred “because of one swindler.”
“If the Kyzyl-Kiya Komur joint-stock company had not built high bridges, the mudflow in the Nookat region would not have been so powerful. In fact, water began to accumulate in front of the bridges, after which the mudflow, gaining strength, came down,” said the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan.
