On November 24, 2023, a regular meeting of the Network of Academic Societies (NAS) will be held in Almaty, organized by the USAID Regional Water and Vulnerable Environment Activity (WAVE) in cooperation with the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. This meeting will be held for the first time at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The meeting will be aimed at improving cooperation between universities in the region, as well as discussing the results and work plans of the NAS. In addition, during the meeting, attention will be paid to the results of the training on water diplomacy, which will be held from November 20 to 23, 2023.
About 30 representatives of educational institutions from 5 Central Asian countries are expected to attend the meeting.
More detailed information about the NAS meeting and its results will be published on the Community of Practice platform.
Brief reference:
Since 2012, the CAREC, with the support of development projects of the European Union, the World Bank, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and other donors, has been supporting regional cooperation of the network of academic Societies of Central Asia, which unites universities and research centers. This regional mechanism is aimed at overcoming “academic isolation” and integrating the academic and scientific circles of Central Asia into the decision-making process.
CAREC implements the project “Support for the USAID Reginal Water and Vulnerable Environment” in partnership with the USAID WAVE under financial support of the USAID.”
