Almaty, Kazakhstan – From September 30 to October 1, 2024, the first media training from the Deutsche Welle Academy for young scientists and specialists in the field of sustainable development, ecology and climate change was held at the head office of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC). The training was dedicated to the topic of media and public appearance.

8 participants from the fields of environment, education and international relations learned the basics of working with the mass media, public speaking and interviews.

During the training, the participants practiced comments and interviews for the media, as well as presentations in the format of a panel discussion and conference. At the end of the training, trainers Constanze Abratzky and Klaudia Pape took apart the case of each speaker and gave valuable recommendations on how to improve their skills.

Thus, the training helped young specialists of Kazakhstan to improve their skills of working with the media and speaking with an emphasis on environmental issues. This, in turn, further reinforces CAREC’s goal of building capacity for access to international expertise, knowledge and best practices.
