Dilovarsho Dustzoda, ReCATH Project Manager of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia, informed about the joint efforts of the Central Asian countries in preparation for COP28 of the UNFCCC at the First Meeting of the Working Group of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program.

Dilovarsho Dustzoda spoke about the ongoing work of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia to represent the region at the Conferences of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, starting with the organization of the first Pavilion of Central Asian countries in the history of the UNFCCC at COP26 and ending with the work of the Central Asian Pavilion at COP28 of the UNFCCC.

He also provided detailed information on the preparation of regional statements on behalf of the Central Asian governments, civil society and youth of Central Asia at COP26, COP27 and COP28.

Dilovarsho Dustzoda spoke about the efforts of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia to unite the Central Asian region in solving common climate challenges, mentioning such regional dialogue platforms as meetings of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and parliamentarians of Central Asia, Central Asian Conferences on Climate Change.

 

As part of the implementation of the Regional Action on Climate Change: a Vision for The Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program endorsed at the 22nd CAREC Ministerial Conference on 30 November 2023 in Tbilisi, Georgia, the Secretariat of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation  Program is initiating the establishment of the Working Group on Climate Change (WGCC).
