CENTRAL ASIAN E-WASTE FORUM: FROM AWARENESS TO ACTION March 4-5, 2025 Dushanbe, Tajikistan
March 4 - March 5
Main objective
The aim of the forum is to facilitate the transition from awareness to the development of concrete tools and strategies that will help Central Asian countries to manage e-waste more effectively.
Thematic scope of forum:
For Central Asian countries, the problem of electronic waste is not new. Thanks to comprehensive research and consultations involving government agencies, business representatives, non-governmental organizations and international partners, the region has developed a good understanding of the current situation, covering the generation, collection and recycling of electronic waste.
Efforts undertaken in Central Asian countries have revealed that, despite the implementation of individual initiatives to collect and recycle e-waste, serious problems remain related to shortcomings in legislation, poorly developed infrastructure and low levels of public awareness.
This forum is intended to become a key platform for discussing current issues and developing practical solutions. Its participants will have the opportunity to exchange experiences, analyze successful examples and determine optimal approaches that correspond to the specifics of the Central Asian region.
Co-Chairs of the Forum: German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), “Cooperation for Sustainable Development” Center (CSD Center)
