Main objective 

To discuss the achieved results, agree on a joint roadmap for 2025 on glaciers, glacial lakes monitoring and modelling, and strengthen regional coordination and cooperation to ensure sustainable management of glacial resources in Central Asia

Thematic scope of the meeting:

• Stocktaking: Assessing the progress and achievements of previous RWG activities
• Harmonization of approaches: Develop a joint roadmap for 2025, taking into account national priorities and common goals.
• Integrating Innovation: Discussing opportunities to implement advanced technologies, including GPR, GNSS, and remote sensing.
• Strengthening Collaboration: Formulating recommendations for developing long-term partnerships and interstate cooperation.

Holding the next meeting of the RWG in Tashkent on March 11, 2025, will be an important step in supporting the UN General Assembly Resolution and the implementation of the regional action plan in the framework of Green Central Asia. It will unite the efforts of Central Asian countries and international stakeholders to address common climate challenges, strengthen cooperation and ensure sustainable management of glacier resources.
