Regional Workshop for countries of Central Asia on the outcomes of the third reporting exercise on SDG indicator 6.5.2 and sharing experience in using reporting as a tool for developing transboundary cooperation, Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Main objective
The main objective of the workshop is to share with the experience of preparing and using reporting on SDG indicator 6.5.2 and facilitating the development of concrete measures to achieve target 6.5 and promote cooperation in transboundary basins of rivers and lakes, and aquifers in Central Asia.
Thematic scope of workshop:
– review of progress towards SDG indicator 6.5.2 in the world and in Central Asian countries;
– specifying key challenges in achieving indicator 6.5.2 in the region and identification of gaps in this process;
– exchange of experiences and lessons learned in addressing SDG 6.5 on transboundary basin cooperation;
– discussion of the coordination possibilities in the preparation of SDGs reports on indicator 6.5.2 in Central Asian countries;
– elaboration of concrete measures to accelerate the achievement of SDG indicator 6.5.2 and strengthen cooperation in transboundary river and lake basins and aquifers in Central Asian countries.
The workshop is organized by the International Water Assessment Centre in cooperation with UNECE, UNESCO and SIC ICWC with the financial support of the GIZ.
