Regional workshop on BAT and BREF – “Expanding Partnerships in BAT” September 18-19, 2024, Almaty, Kazakhstan

September 18 - September 19

Central Asian countries are advancing green economy models to meet environmental standards, particularly in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and transitioning to a more sustainable low-carbon economy.

Recognizing the importance of this work, the German Environment Agency has launched the project «Strengthening Partnerships for Best Available Technologies with a Focus on Regional Engagement». This project aims to raise awareness and enhance cooperation among stakeholders to promote the adoption of Best Available Techniques (BAT) and Best Available Techniques Reference Documents (BREF) for environmentally sustainable practices, especially in the heavy industry sector.

From September 18 to 19, 2024, Almaty will host the Regional workshop on BAT and BREF titled “Expanding Partnerships in BAT”. Supported by recognized international experts, this event will provide participants with direct insights into environmentally friendly technologies that improve efficiency, reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts in the heavy industry sector.

This project is funded by the German Federal Environment Ministry’s Advisory Assistance Programme (AAP) for environmental protection in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia and other countries neighboring the European Union. It is supervised by the German Environment Agency (UBA). The responsibility for the content of this publication lies with the authors.
