The 3rd meeting of the RWG on the Regional Climate Change Adaptation Strategy within the framework of the Green Central Asia Initiative

Organized by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH In order to develop common priorities, goals and objectives, all five countries of Central Asia
– the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, have established a Regional Working Group (RWG)
consisting of the authorized representatives of the relevant government bodies. During 2022–2023, the Regional Working Group, with the support of the GIZ Green Central Asia
Programme and the involvement of international and national experts, during a hardcore negotiation process, have developed the Regional Climate Change Adaptation Strategy in
Central Asia.
The first meeting of the RWG on the implementation of RCCAS took place on May 27, 2024 in Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan, where the following issues were discussed:
(1) the formation and location of the RCCAS Secretariat;
(2) development of a roadmap for the implementation of RCCAS and;
(3) discussion of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) within the preparation for the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC.
The second meeting of the RWG was held on July 25, 2024 in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan, where the vision of the Central Asian countries on the RCCAS Secretariat was
presented and its location in one of the Central Asian countries was discussed within the framework of the implementation of Strategic Objective 1, and priority steps were agreed
upon to develop a plan for the implementation of RCCAS within the framework of the implementation of Strategic Objective 2.
The main objectives of the third meeting of the RWG are:
Discussion of recommendations for the implementation of the Regional Climate Change Adaptation Strategy in Central Asia;
Discussion and approval of the draft Regulation on the Regional Working Group for the implementation of the Regional Climate Change Adaptation Strategy in Central
Asia;
Presentation of the RWG secretariat and invited experts. Presentation by the secretariat and discussion of the draft work plan.
As part of the implementation of Strategic Objective 2. Creation of mechanisms for the development and implementation of adaptation projects/programs, and attraction
of funding. Presentation and discussion of proposals for the formation of the RCCAS implementation plan
