The forecast for spring is not ready yet. They promise to provide it in early March.
The Tasqyn flood forecasting system has been launched in Kazakhstan, the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation reported.
“Tasqyn is integrated into the global flood warning system GloFAS. Tasqyn will provide the final forecast for the 2025 flood period in early March,” the statement said.
114 specialists from basin inspections and branches of Kazvodkhoz daily enter data on 142 hydroposts on 128 river sections into the system. They also promptly exchange information with colleagues from neighboring countries.
“Water discharge from reservoirs continues to ensure free capacity for receiving the spring flood. Today, reservoirs can receive 13 billion cubic meters of water,” noted Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov.
At the end of November 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev promised to put the system into production operation by the end of 2024 .
