In 2024, CACCC-2024 will delve into critical issues pertaining to water, energy, food security, and environmental sustainability within the context of a climate-affected Central Asia.
The Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2024) is poised to be a significant milestone in the ongoing regional climate discourse.
CACCC-2024 promises to be a confluence of diverse stakeholders, including practitioners from various sectors.
Participants will be apprised of the progress made by Central Asian countries in climate mitigation and adaptation, including their reporting under the Enhanced Transparency Framework. Additionally, the conference will highlight significant cross-sectoral initiatives aimed at bolstering climate resilience, exploring climate finance mechanisms, and discussing platforms that facilitate regional and international cooperation in the face of climate challenges.
CACCC-2024 core themes for discussion:
- Progress, challenges and gaps in the implementation of climate commitments by the Central Asian countries
- Governance and financial arrangements for implementation of sector-specific strategies at the national and local scales; and available platforms for regional climate coordination and cooperation;
- Potential for regional collaboration in climate change adaptation, carbon neutrality pathways, energy transition and security
- Challenges and opportunities of climate-related disaster risk reduction
- Resilient water and land management and activities accomplished by the project, “Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin, Additional Financing (CAMP4ASB AF)”
- Innovations on managing macro-fiscal and financial risks while considering climate change issues and seizing the opportunities, innovation and financing of a green/carbon neutrality transition
- Promote collaborative NEXUS approach, technological advancements, and policy interventions to protect Central Asia's ecosystems and water-energy balance to ensure green, resilient, and inclusive development across the region
The CACCC-2024 will focus on reviewing and enhancing practical climate initiatives being implemented across Central Asia, aiming to bolster support for governmental and development partners, academic society and private sector efforts, and the broader populace in making climate ambitions into reality.

The Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2024) is organized by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) under Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program in the Aral Sea Basin AF (CAMP4ASB AF), the Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP) and “Climate Risk Management in Central Asia” program by GIZ.
The Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP) is a partnership between the World Bank, the European Union, Switzerland (through SECO) and the United Kingdom.
CAREC implements CAMP4ASB AF jointly with EC IFAS under the financial support of the World Bank and the Green Climate Fund.
