December 9 this year on the sidelines of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in #Dubai, #UAE, the Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of #Tajikistan, Sheralizoda Bahodur Ahmadjon, met with the Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change of #Malaysia, Mr. Nick Nazmi Nik Ahmed.
At this meeting, issues related to cooperation between Tajikistan and Malaysia in the field of environmental protection and climate change were discussed. The meeting also discussed issues related to air quality monitoring, the development of regulations on waste recycling, and the phasing out of plastic bags.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee gave an opinion on the country’s contribution, nationally determined contributions (NDCs), to the implementation of the goals and objectives of the Paris Agreement on climate change. At the same time, the Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change of Malaysia, Mr. Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmed, highly appreciated the role of Tajikistan in promoting water and climate issues in the international arena and stated the timeliness of the next initiative of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon in in connection with the announcement of the International Year of Glacier Protection in 2025.
The meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding on broad cooperation in the areas of environmental protection, the parties agreed on issues of interest.
