December 10 this year on the sidelines of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in Dubai, UAE, the Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sheralizoda Bahodur Ahmadjon, met with the Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Qatar, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser.
At this meeting, issues related to cooperation between Tajikistan and Qatar in the field of climate change were discussed. The meeting also discussed issues related to cooperation within the framework of the signed memorandum between the Committee and the Ministry in various areas, including the protection of rare species of animals and cooperation in the field of environmental legislation.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee noted our country’s implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) towards the implementation of the goals and objectives of the Paris Agreement on climate change. At the same time, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser highly appreciated the role of Tajikistan in promoting water and climate issues in the international arena, including the successful holding of the UN Water Conference co-chaired by the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in March 2023 in the city of New York, USA.
The meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding on broad cooperation in the areas of environmental protection, the parties agreed on issues of interest.
