On April 3rd, the Kyrgyz State Technical University (KSTU) and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) signed a memorandum of cooperation. The purpose of this agreement is to strengthen partnership in the field of research in water supply, sanitation, hygiene, and health (WASH), as well as to promote the exchange of knowledge and experience between the two universities.
The memorandum envisages a wide range of activities and initiatives between the educational institutions. In particular, the parties agreed to facilitate the exchange of students, master’s, doctoral candidates, and faculty to enhance their scientific qualifications and conduct joint research projects.
Additionally, the memorandum provides for the organization of joint courses and lectures on the topic of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in educational programs. Thanks to the new academic connections, KSTU students will gain access to Swiss expertise in modern methods of water supply and wastewater management. Professor Mirlan Chynybaev, the rector of KSTU, emphasized the importance of cooperation between academic institutions and the significant role of the Blue Peace CA project in establishing and maintaining joint research within the Community of Practice for Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Central Asia (CoP4WASH).
