On January 22, 2025, the second meeting of the Syr Darya River Basin Dialogue took place at the Crowne Plaza in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The meeting aimed to strengthen regional cooperation in water resource management, focusing on climate resilience, infrastructure development, and modern monitoring techniques for the Syr Darya River Basin.

The meeting was organized within the “Climate-Sensitive Water Resources Management in Central Asia” Programme. It brought together representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, relevant sectoral ministries, and Hydrological Services from Central Asian countries, along with international partners.

The dialogue fosters collaboration between Central Asian nations and international organizations to address critical challenges in transboundary water management and climate adaptation. It also highlights the importance of joint learning and regional partnerships in promoting sustainable development and governance in Central Asia.

The event was convened by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit  (GIZ) and commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the EU and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
