Tajik President Emomali Rahmon spoke at the Economic Forum in Astana, Kazakhstan, as part of the Second Summit of Heads of State of Central Asia and Germany. In his speech, he expressed confidence that the forum would become an important platform for developing cooperation between the countries of the region and Germany, especially in matters of joint use of Central Asian resources and Germany’s technological capabilities. The President highlighted Tajikistan’s significant natural resources, especially its potential for producing “green energy.” He said that 98 percent of Tajikistan’s electricity is already generated from renewable sources, and that the country plans to completely switch to producing electricity from “green” resources by 2032 and become a “green country” by 2037. Emomali Rahmon also noted the role of European companies in introducing new technologies into Tajikistan’s hydropower sector, which is a clear example of cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals. In addition, he spoke about the possibility of creating electrical engineering and electric vehicle production facilities in Tajikistan, as well as the prospect of developing 800 mineral deposits. The President added that the country pays special attention to digitalization and innovation, offering investors favorable conditions and tax incentives. In conclusion, Emomali Rahmon invited the forum participants to mutually beneficial cooperation and participation in new investment projects, especially in the field of “green development”.
