Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Erlan Nysanbayev proposed legislatively punishing akims for failure to implement environmental protection plans, reports a correspondent for the Kazinform agency.

Speaking about the environmental situation in Kazakhstan to the deputies of the Majilis, the minister reported that today all regions have adopted an action plan for environmental protection. At the same time, in seven regions the amount of funds is lower than necessary. And in some regions, such as Astana, Akmola, Turkestan regions and Zhetysu region, the budget has been allocated several times more than necessary.

Of the 500 events planned from 2020 to 2024, only 257, or 52%, have been implemented.

– At the same time, the responsibility of local executive bodies for failure to implement planned activities is not established by law. In this regard, it is proposed to make appropriate changes to the legislation, – said E. Nysanbaev.

Let us recall that in our country the work of akims is assessed by KPI (key performance indicators). Were the managers able to achieve the goals set before them? In what other areas should the KPI indicator be determined? A correspondent of the Kazinform agency talked about this topic with experts  – a deputy, a public activist and a political scientist.
