On the sidelines of the World Climate Summit COP 29, the heads of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Ilham Aliyev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Agreement on Strategic Partnership in the Field of Production and Transfer of Green Energy between the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

As the Head of our state stated, this event will mark a new page in the history of the common desire for sustainable development.

– The signing of the Strategic Partnership Agreement is an important stage in trilateral cooperation in the development of the regions of Central Asia and the South Caucasus. The document opens up new opportunities for the integration of the energy systems of our states, as well as the creation of reliable corridors for the supply of environmentally friendly energy to the European and other markets. Kazakhstan plays an extremely important role here as a large transit territory. The practical results of this Agreement will also contribute to the development of the Middle Corridor as a “green bridge” connecting our economies. Close cooperation in this key area will intensify the exchange of experience and advanced technologies between the three states and will contribute to the further strengthening of our energy security, – the President noted.

According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, for Kazakhstan, which is striving for carbon neutrality, “green” energy is a priority.

– We are actively working to reduce dependence on fossil resources, developing technological innovations and creating infrastructure capable of supporting our environmental sustainability. Kazakhstan has reached agreements with foreign partners on the implementation of “green” projects with a total capacity of 43 GW, – the Head of State emphasized.

President Ilham Aliyev noted that today’s agreement takes the fraternal relations and strategic partnership between the three countries to a new level.

– The regions of Central Asia and the Caucasus act synchronously in many issues, including in the area of developing “green” energy. We know about the big plans and the results already achieved in creating renewable energy sources in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, – said the President of Azerbaijan.

In turn, the President of Uzbekistan stated that this agreement pursues not only an economic goal, but also represents a common contribution to the future.

– I would like to especially note the environmental significance of this project. The energy that will be transmitted is wind and solar energy, which will help mitigate the impact on the climate. In this way, we support joint efforts to protect the climate within the framework of the Paris Agreement and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, – noted Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In addition, in the presence of the heads of state, the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliyev, the Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov, the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov and the Minister of Energy of Saudi Arabia Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud signed the Executive Program on cooperation in the field of development and transfer of green energy.
