In the city of Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul region, the 34th meeting of the Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Kazakhstan on the use of interstate water management facilities on the Chu and Talas Rivers took place.
The Kyrgyz delegation was led by Almazbek Sokeev, Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Director of the Water Resources Service. The Kazakh delegation was headed by Nurlan Aldamzharov, Deputy Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of water intake schedules from interstate sources and facilities on the Chu and Talas Rivers, the volumes of work performed on these facilities as of July 20, 2024, Kazakhstan’s co-financing of the operation and maintenance of interstate water management facilities, amendments and additions to the Agreement of January 21, 2000, as well as the development of a bilateral document on the management and use regime of the Chumysh Hydraulic Complex on the Chu River, among other issues.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the protocol of the 34th session of the Commission was signed.
