The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Memorandum was signed at a meeting between the Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, Melis Turgunbaev, and the CAREC team in Kyrgyzstan. Kuban Matraimov, Director of the CAREC branch in the Kyrgyz Republic, signed the Memorandum on behalf of the CAREC.
The Memorandum envisages:
- Strengthening cooperation in the development of strategic programs and development plans for biodiversity conservation, climate change and sustainable use of natural resources;
- Promotion of regional programs and projects in the field of climate change, integrated use of natural resources, environmental protection and sustainable development;
Supporting the Ministry’s activities on Environmental Conventions and ensuring the exchange of environmental information and knowledge.
“The Memorandum is the basis for the implementation of joint projects, attracting the expert potential of CAREC, providing mutual support to the parties to the Memorandum in addressing issues of environmental protection, conservation and sustainable use of natural resources. The main purpose of the signed Memorandum is to intensify the interaction of the Parties in international and regional cooperation with an emphasis on promoting national interests and proposals on various environmental platforms,” reported by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic.
After the signing of the Memorandum, specialists from the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic and CAREC, with the participation of Minister Melis Turgunbaev, discussed issues of climate financing of joint projects, future cooperation in organizing the pavilion of the Kyrgyz Republic at the upcoming 29th Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC, which will be held in Azerbaijan at the end of this year.
